The Steering Group was set up in June 2008 to drive forward the project during it's initial phases. It meets every week to make sure TTK builds crucial networks, raises awareness of key issues and prepares the community in general for transition.
It has overseen the screening of key films such as End of Suburbia and Power of Community; arranged numerous events around the topics of peak oil and climate change and raised the groups profile in the local press. It has won bids for funds; overseen the establishment of action group's to help raise awareness with specific communities within Kingston and supported themed groups such as Food and Energy to form. A number of its members represent TTK on the Royal Borough of Kingston's Environment Group, which feeds into the Strategic Plan.
Its role is to guide, support and plan for Kingston's Energy Decent.
